MaureenE Posted 6 December , 2014 Share Posted 6 December , 2014 The Gazette of India and Calcutta Gazette were official publications of the Government of India, and Government of Bengal respectively, and similar in function to the London Gazette. They contained a lot of information about both Europeans and native Indians, including military matters. The following may be downloaded as pdfs from DSpace at West Bengal State Central Library http://dspace.wbpublibnet.gov.in:8080/jspui/ I have copied the following from the catalogue. I have not downloaded any of them. Hopefully the underlying URLs have copied, otherwise you will need to search in the catalogue. (Edit: a few open as External links, but most do not0 Where two results came up, I have copied both. I’m unaware of whether they are the same file duplicated, or different copies of the same editions. I apologise if I have classified any of the years incorrectly. Cheers Maureen EDIT I have added URLs Gazette of India April-June,1915 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/13208 1916 Jan 1916 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/11133 Feb 1916http://hdl.handle.net/10689/11134 March1916 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/11132 July 1916 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/10319 August 1916 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/11035 September 1916 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/11036 August-September 1916 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/19776 1918 April 1918 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/10966 May 1918 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/10969 June 1918 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/10970 1920 July-August 1920 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/13227 July-August 1920 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/17752 Calcutta Gazette 1914 May-June 1914 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/16882 November 1914 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/10908 December 1914 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/10910 1915 April-June 1915 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/13216 July1915 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/10740 August 1915 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/10742 July-December 1915 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/17104 1916 January1916 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/10683 February 1916 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/10686 March 1916 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/10688 July 1916 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/14011 1917 January 1917 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/10365 February 1917 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/10366 March 1917 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/10367 April 1917 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/10973 May 1917 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/10975 June 1917 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/10971 October 1917 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/11038 November 1917 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/11040 December 1917 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/11042 November-December 1917 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/13995 1918 January-June 1918 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/19704 July 1918 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/10722 August 1918 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/10723 September 1918 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/10724 October 1918 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/11216 November 1918 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/11215 December 1918 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/11214 1919 January-May 1919 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/21500 April 1919 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/10290 May 1919 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/10292 June 1919 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/10293 November-December 1919 http://hdl.handle.net/10689/14540
MartH Posted 6 December , 2014 Share Posted 6 December , 2014 Maureene stunning work, simply stunning work, and a lot of effort in presenting it so well and accessibly, though I think there is a technical hitch I can't get the links to work
MaureenE Posted 6 December , 2014 Author Share Posted 6 December , 2014 I thought the underlying URLs would copy, and I can access 5 of the above, but the rest unfortunately can't be accessed from the page above. Why five work, and the others don't is a puzzle. If you are interested and want to read the Gazettes, you will need to search in the catalogue of DSpace at West Bengal State Central Library Cheers Maureen Edit: I have now replaced the original links and added URLs

MaureenE Posted 13 December , 2014 Author Share Posted 13 December , 2014 There are also editions of the Gazette of India to read online on the Digital Library of India website. http://www.new1.dli.ernet.in This website uses images in the TIFF format, so you may need to download a suitable plug-in if you are unable to read the images. This website is usually slow. Excluding the above dates the following dates are available according to the catalogue 1914: April-June. July-September. October-December. 1915: July-December. 1916: April-June. October-December. 1917: April-June. July-September. October-December. November-December. 1918: October-December. 1919: January-February. March. October-December. 1920: January-March. 1921: July-September. 1922: January-March. Cheers Maureen
