HI

Trying to work out what these abbreviations mean please

para. 15 6 free TA reg

and

Sergt V. G. {what does the VG stand for}

this is concerning my Grandfather in and just after WW1

Hello Hilda, and welcome to the Forum!

TA Reg would be the Territorial Army Regulations, which dates it to after 1920. Before that the TA was called the Territorial Force and had TF Regs.

If the documents relate to his discharge, VG probably means very good, his character assessment. This would affect his chances of obtaining work in civilian life.
