Julianw Posted 27 November , 2014 Share Posted 27 November , 2014 Can anyone tell me the location in the Ypres Salient where the 48th Division was in action between 4th- 16th October 1917? In particular I want to establish whether it was subjected to any gas attacks and if so where these took place. My Grandfathers Battery, D/291 Brigade was in support of the Division as can be seen from the extract from the Brigades War Diary and he was at some time during October 1917 subjected to a gas attack which resulted in him being sent back to the UK for treatment. It would be nice to establish which units he was providing support to if that is possible.
Guest Posted 28 November , 2014 Share Posted 28 November , 2014 Hi Julian. Can't pin it down, you might need Brigade and Battalion Diaries for that. This page from The Long Long Trail will help. The answer may well be in the LLT Someone else might be able to help further. Cheers Mike
