sotonmate Posted 12 November , 2014 Share Posted 12 November , 2014 You may like to know that his service records have survived on Ancestry UK,both pre-war (enlisted 1909) and later for the war. You may also like to know that he was not only in India Sep 1916 to Jul 1917,but served in Mesopotamia from Aug 1917 to May 1919. He received two campaign medals and a Territorial Force Efficiency Medal (covered pre-war service in TA and 4 years of the war). There is also a letter from him stating that he was Mentioned in Despatches no mention of these two items on his Medal Index Card. He was discharged sick with a Silver War Badge on 16 Jul 1919 from the Indian base at Jubbulpore, maybe due to the harsh conditions in Mespot during his long stay there. Worth a read, though some of the text is woefully faint. Served A Battery of 215 Brigade RFA from Mar 1917 and ? Battery of 227 Brigade RFA later. Resident in Invicta Road,Folkestone.
