dickiek Posted 11 November , 2014 Share Posted 11 November , 2014 I’ve been reading through my Grandfathers WW1 story of his time in the Royal Inniskilling Fus. He said he was a guard at a very big German POW camp outside of Dauville on the Lord Rothschilds estate. The camp was very big and held around five thousand German NCO’s, it was a very easy going camp, they had concert parties to which he and his fellow guards had front row seats, he didn’t understand a word of it as it was all in German. Has anyone got any info / photos of this camp, and why a Corporal of the Skins was a guard there..... I know he was gassed, when encamped at Dickibus in 1917, could it be he was on light duties ? Your thoughts gentlemen......
