kevinrowlinson Posted 30 October , 2014 Share Posted 30 October , 2014 Bernard, He may have attested in 1916, but it wasn't until 1918 until he joined. See http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=207439 . You should also look at Find My Past which gives an indication of what he did; Signaller. I suspect he may have served with a heavy battery, but without his service records, or any other references held by the family, it would be impossible to say which battery. Guest LMT Posted 16 December , 2014 Share Posted 16 December , 2014 William David Eley was my Great Grandfather. I may be able to help you with some information. Is the enquiry specific to his family or just general?
