I'm intrigued that Remembrance Sunday as shown is 9th November - the Armistice took effect on 4th November at 3pm on the Italian front.

In the UK and many other Commonwealth countries, Remembrance Sunday is the second Sunday in November, being the closest Sunday to the Armistice Day on the western front (11 November)?

So are the two dates aligned, or does Italy choose the first Sunday after the 4th?

Remembrance Day in Italy is the 4th November, or the closest sunday, but this is a special Remembrance of the British soldiers died in Italy during the great war, so we dit it in the British way.

Hi,

for some years now I have been sending RBL poppies to a friend in Italy who puts them on the Homan memorial in the field just out side the aerodrome at St Pietro in Gu, if you follow this link, you will see his family memorial to which is attached the wreath. In the back ground you can see some farm buildings, that in WW1 were used by the transport section to maintain their vehicles.
