ariedl Posted 16 October , 2014 Share Posted 16 October , 2014 I'm afraid I know the answer to this already, but I'm hoping that someone in this wonderful forum can give me good news. Is there any hope of finding hospital records for a soldier during WW1 if you don't have any idea which hospital he was in or for what reason? I have a photo of my grandfather, John Nicoll, S/26622, taken in October 1918, in which he is wearing hospital blues. A note on the back of the card (written by my grandmother at a later date) says "John on sick leave in Edinburgh, 11/10/1918". He did not depart for France till the first week of November (luckily), so I know he wasn't in for a battle wound, though he could have been injured in training, suffering from the flu, etc. I've checked with Lothian Health Services, and they didn't find anything, but I got the impression their records aren't comprehensive. Any suggestions or information would be greatly appreciated.
