Snapper

Hi,

I've been told that I may find details about a relative who was in the East Yorkshire Regiment in "The Snapper", the EYR journal in 1919 in a section called "With the 7th Battalion 1918".

Does anyone know where i could get to see a copy so that i can see events and movements leading up to the day he died?

Thanks

James

The war diary may be available to download online from National Archives.

There are several War Diary segments for 7 Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment which are digital and downloadable for 1918 from the Discovery database of the National Archives:

http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C4555154

click on the green box "Go to Browse" and on the right side of the next screen you will see the segments WO95/2003/4 (Jan to May 1918): 2003/5 (Jun to Sep 1918): and 2003/6 (Oct 1918 to Apr 1919).

There is also a substantial history of the regiment "The East Yorkshire Regiment in the Great War" by Edmund Wyrall. It is available as a reprint from the Naval & Military Press and you could probably order it on inter library loan.

Forum member joseph might be able to advise - he is expert on the East Yorks.
