Iggy Posted 29 October , 2004 Share Posted 29 October , 2004 I put a notice on another subject but decided i should have asked the medal experts on this thread. I bought a 1914 Star for Aust $125.00 and tried looking up the soldier L-8832 Pte T. H. Thorne 1/ R Fus. on the MIC at NA but had no joy. Is this because his records may have been destroyed during the Blitz. Hoping someone can find him where I cannot. Regards Ian

Neil Burns Posted 29 October , 2004 Share Posted 29 October , 2004 Hi Ian, I believe the 'T''s have only recently become available online. It may be that your man just isn't yet online. The MIC's are not yet completely available. Take care, Neil

Iggy Posted 30 October , 2004 Author Share Posted 30 October , 2004 Thanks ramc195, but with the marvel of the internet, a credit card I was able to download the MIC for T. H. Thorne last night. When I am able I was going to try to put up a scan of his MIC so that I could get some advice on what all the information means. Especially as he appears to be granted a clasp, I would like to know what it all means. Australian websites don't seem to deal with the 1914 Star in detail as so few Aussies received the medal. I will try to post this image in the next couple of days. Once again thanks everyone to your quick and informative responses. Cheers Ian
