patrickw55 Posted 2 October , 2014 Share Posted 2 October , 2014 I've just posted an article on http://www.illustratedfirstworldwar.com/trafalgar-square-and-the-great-financial-offensive/ where I look into the ways in which Trafalgar Square was used in WW1 to recruit young men. I found out that there were these huge events there designed to convince people to fund the war effort. They would allow people to go inside tanks for a fee and they even set up a replica war-torn French village in Trafalgar Square so people could experience what it was like to be on the front lines. Does anyone know of any other way in which people tried fundraise for the war effort in London or in the UK?
centurion Posted 2 October , 2014 Share Posted 2 October , 2014 Trench "experiences" were built as commercial enterprises in Manchester (where it flopped) and Blackpool (where it was a great success)
