Starfire6 Posted 17 September , 2014 Share Posted 17 September , 2014 I have just discovered that my Grandfather died of his wounds, suffered in August 1916, in New Brighton Hospital Sept 5th 1916. He was a member of the 6th Battalion, KSLI. Is it possible to find out more information about that particular hospital at that time and the nature of his wounds. HERITAGE PLUS Posted 17 September , 2014 Share Posted 17 September , 2014 RJ There was a VAD Auxiliary War Hospital set up in a mid 19th Century mansion used as a Convent by the Sisters of the Cenacle situated at the top of St. George's Mount in Atherton Street in New Brighton. The covent was demolished in 1922 and its site is now occupied by the Roman Catholic Church of St. Peter and St. Paul which was completed in 1935.
