bkristof Posted 26 October , 2004 Share Posted 26 October , 2004 Is this a post war picture??? I found it in a box who came out of a pile of junk of an attic in the Salient. Maybe a war sweet hart??? Who can give info?
KONDOA Posted 26 October , 2004 Share Posted 26 October , 2004 By the look of his turnout it would be highly probable that he had just recieved the medals in question. One looks like a gallantry medal but Im not familiar with medals enough to say which. I notice the picture has slightly rounded corners?? Is this a postcard and is there anything on the back, even printing?? The negative number on the print (if that is what it is in this case) would be consistent with a photograph taken in England, however that is not conclusive for obvious reasons. KONDOA Posted 26 October , 2004 Share Posted 26 October , 2004 Ok Kristoff, it almost definitely originates from England rather than picture taken elsewhere. Sorry cannot provide any uniform/badge information as I am very limited in my knowledge of these.

Krithia Posted 26 October , 2004 Share Posted 26 October , 2004 I think it is post-war. Its hard to see the medals clearly from this image, however they appear to be the BWM and VM, so photo c.1920 ??? Is it possible for a closeup of the medals to be sure. Staffsyeoman Posted 26 October , 2004 Share Posted 26 October , 2004 Harry's absolutely right; the medals are British War and Victory Medals. The Should title appears to be; ROYAL BERKSHIRE T 4 ..embroidered white on scarlet ...I'm not a Royal Berks expert, but that and the collar badges should date it for a specialist. Certainly 20s, could be later.
