DrB Posted 26 October , 2004 Share Posted 26 October , 2004 Lawrence Stallings in The Doughboys says "Regulating Station." Makes sense, as he would drive supplies, troops, etc thither and yon. The "R" on black within a red frame is for "Railhead." DrB
Guest shenkursk Posted 26 October , 2004 Share Posted 26 October , 2004 Jim: This shoulder insignia is specifically for the Is Sur Tille Regulating Station. (Black diamond, gilt border, red embroidered "R"). There is a whole page of reference on these which I have been looking for since I remodeled my office last December! The different color combinations signify specific railheads or regulating stations. You will see them on good identified groupings from soldiers serving in the Quartermaster Corps, Engineers, MTC, Medical Corps, and even Artillery. Other examples that we have had on recent catalogs are below. I listed the URL's instead of posting pictures - hope that is not inconvenient.
