Tomkinson Posted 30 July , 2014 Share Posted 30 July , 2014 I have a picture from my Great Grandfather's collection of 2 members of the RFA with whom he must have trained/served. It is labelled on the back Gunners Bill Sapp(?) and Disney London and Birmingham Canterbury 1917 May I cannot find a record for a Gunner Bill or William Sapp but can find one for a Sargent W Disney 3918 'B' Battery 62 Brigade RFA who was killed 26th November 1918. The picture is highly likely to be William Disney but I can find no records of a William Disney of Birmingham on Ancestry. It would be nice to contact any living relatives so they can have a copy of the picture. Any ideas? I have a few pictures from the collection which are named with individuals but tracking them down is proving difficult. Mike Tomkinson
BFBSM Posted 30 July , 2014 Share Posted 30 July , 2014 Mike, Can you scan the back of the photo? It's possible that someone may be able to decipher 'Sapp's' name. Mark
Tomkinson Posted 30 July , 2014 Author Share Posted 30 July , 2014 Attached as requested. The soldier on the right is Gunner (later Sargent) W. Disney I believe. The one on the left is Gunner Sapp (?) Cheers Mike Tomkinson
BFBSM Posted 30 July , 2014 Share Posted 30 July , 2014 Mike, Thanks for posting as requested. I read his name as Sapp also. I have been searching FindMyPast and Ancestry, nothing yet, but will keep trying. Mark

battiscombe Posted 31 July , 2014 Share Posted 31 July , 2014 the gunner on the left does indeed have Territorial shoulder badges it appears which would fit Tapp
Tomkinson Posted 23 June , 2015 Author Share Posted 23 June , 2015 Agree that Gunner on left is almost certainly William Tapp.
