Hi,

I'm trying to find out what happened to an ancestor of mine, named Daniel Shannon Chalmers who was an inmate on the the HMS Cumberland according to the Scottish 1881 census. He was 13 yrs old, I would love to know how long he was on the ship and what became of him.

Can anyone help ?

Regards,

Daryl

She was actually the former HMS CUMBERLAND, no longer a commissioned HM Ship having been taken over by the Clyde Industrial Training Ship Association.

He does not appear to have enlisted in the Royal Navy.
