alf mcm Posted 29 July , 2014 Share Posted 29 July , 2014 I have been researching the staff of The Edinburgh War Hospital at Bangour, and have come across a comment that there were a number of American Doctors working there. No date is given. I am assuming they were American Army, but that may be incorrect. Is there any way of finding out which American Doctors served at Bangour. kenmorrison Posted 30 July , 2014 Share Posted 30 July , 2014 In February 1918 the US Navy Base Hospital No.2 was set up in the Highland Hotel, Strathpeffer, Ross and Cromarty, while in the August the Military Hospital in the former Leith Poor House became US Navy Base Hospital No.3. It seems likely that US doctors would have at least visited Bangour. Ken
alf mcm Posted 30 July , 2014 Author Share Posted 30 July , 2014 Thanks Ken, A report about Bangour during the war indicates that 12 Doctors from the United States Army Medical Reserve Corps worked there, but I don’t know if they were all there at the same time. Guest craigvar Posted 11 January , 2015 Share Posted 11 January , 2015 Hello I am interested in Ken saying that the US Navy Base was stationed at the Highland Hotel. Would you be able to share your source please. I am a local historian undertaking research for a query we have received. Regards and thanks, Arthur
