MikeyH Posted 12 July , 2014 Share Posted 12 July , 2014 My Grandfather had a brooch in the form of a Great War German bayonet. It was around 2" or a little longer, nicely made of metal and wood. I am fairly sure that he said it had been made by a German P.O.W., the person that had either originally been given it or purchased it gave it to G.Dad in the 1930's. The nearest W.W.1. P.O.W. camp to where we lived at that time, was I think at Lowton between Leigh and Warrington in Lancashire. Sadly I foolishly swopped it for something when I was around 10 years old. Has anyone else ever seen an example of this type of P.O.W. work? Mike.
von Smallhausen Posted 12 July , 2014 Share Posted 12 July , 2014 Hello Mike, Such mini bayonets have been made all over the years as souvenirs or letteropeners. Have a Belgian WWI and a German WWII mini in my collection. ( about 18 cm) The tiny ones are about 5 cm or 5 inch. There is a needle at the back in order to wear it like a pin. kind regards, Jef Ps sorry for the blurry pic. I put the bayo's on my scanner. trajan Posted 13 July , 2014 Share Posted 13 July , 2014 Ps sorry for the blurry pic. I put the bayo's on my scanner. "Bayo's"? Shades of GBForum! That aside, I do like both the real and that miniature Belgian bayonet
