Guest Poppynichola Posted 9 July , 2014 Share Posted 9 July , 2014 Hertfordshire's Absent voters list are now available online on Hertfordshire Names Online at www.hertsdirect.org/hals . From 1918 separate registers were kept of anyone who had applied to vote by post or proxy. The majority of entries are for members of the armed forces, and the registers give their regiment, ship etc. as well as their rank and number. All surviving Hertfordshire registers held at Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies have been indexed by name from 1918-1931.

David_Underdown Posted 10 July , 2014 Share Posted 10 July , 2014 Great stuff, converted to a clickable link for ease of use www.hertsdirect.org/hals . Actually after a bit of poking around, they're not particularly obvious, I discovered that you need to use the miscellaneous names index within https://www.hertsdirect.org/ufs/ufsmain?formid=HALS_INDEXES. You will see transcribed info only.
