Guest bonza Posted 21 October , 2004 Share Posted 21 October , 2004 Thanks Andrew. As to "pleasing" well its certainly a step [big step] in the right direction, Just happenned to note in the SLV News that new Fellowships include 3 mth. The Flanders campaign of 1917 : a statistical & histriographical investigation Preparation of a manuscript for publication. Some blokes have all the luck. Incidently if you haven't started on Dee's search UNINSW adfa & mallett all come to mind, Thanks agen Pat total absence of interstate rivalry should be noted
Andrew P Posted 21 October , 2004 Author Share Posted 21 October , 2004 I've also got a link for the South Australians at war but it didn't work last time I tried it. Might be best to go through the State Library of South Australia's main page http://www.slsa.gov.au

Edward_N_Kelly Posted 22 October , 2004 Share Posted 22 October , 2004 Cheers Ed Always glad to be of service (seeing I comes from the fair state of the "crow-eaters"!). I not the reference to a member of 27 Bn ("The South Australian Scottish") in your sig - a relation ? Cheers Edward
Andrew P Posted 23 October , 2004 Author Share Posted 23 October , 2004 Yep. As I wasn't able to get over to SA, the reference librarian at the State Library of South Australia actually found his photo for me some years ago. He served with the 27th on Gallipoli and survived Pozieres only to be killed at Flers in November 1916. He has no known grave, though I visited the general area in 1997. Guest bonza Posted 23 October , 2004 Share Posted 23 October , 2004 G'day The kids at Mt Barker High did a "Journey of Remembrance" in 2001. They selected local lads to research & visit. They wrote a book under that title under guidance of Teacher/Boss Cocky etc JUlie Reece. published 2002 ISBN 0 9750070 0 9 Sales might help to fund a follow-up tour planned for 2004 hols. IMHO the kids did a good job, its refreshing to read a bottom-up account. They also give proper attention to 'other Sth Aus' units Might be worth a read! ooRoo Pat
