hen190782 Posted 16 June , 2014 Share Posted 16 June , 2014 Good Morning Captain Richard Thomas Nolan served in the ranks (Sergeant, 13142) before being commissioned on 4th September 1916 and died 22nd March 1920 (but not on CWGC) - OR service record and MIC have been located. Can anyone advise the medal ribbon in this newspaper photograph: Thanks Nigel
Will O'Brien Posted 16 June , 2014 Share Posted 16 June , 2014 Complete shot in the dark but the only ribbon I can see which vaguely matches is the Greek Medal of Military Merit. Nolan served with the Royal Dublin Fusiliers. The 6th Service Battalion was in Salonika 1915-1917, so if that was his unit (big if), it's a possible
Old Owl Posted 16 June , 2014 Share Posted 16 June , 2014 R.T.N. was commissioned into the 8th R.D.F., however by Feb.1919 he is listed under the 6th Bn, so your theory could be correct? Robert
