Many Army Museums have Great War exhibitions/events over the next 5 years. Those for 2014 include:

Alnwick: Start of 3 year commemorative exhibition at RRF Museum

Arborfield: the Arborfield Remount Depot

Bodmin: The Old Contemptibles

Bovington: “Warhorse to Horsepower” Exhibition

Cardiff: Firing Line will host a Travelling Exhibition from NAM. Dates TBC

Chatham: “Outbreak to Christmas Truce” joint project with NAM. Dates TBC

Doncaster: conscription; prisoners of war

Halifax: WW1 Gallery open 2014-2018 at Bankfield Museum (DWR)

Leicester: outbreak of war and major battles in 2015

London: Mons/Mondemont (1st Battle of the Marne)

Maidstone: Great War Activity programme

Nottingham: Trent to Trenches exhibition

Salisbury: mobilisation and the war in Belgium and France

Shrewsbury: the rush to the Colours, enlistment in Shropshire

Warwick: The start/early years of WW1

Winchester: The Western Front 1914-15

Winchester: A Call to Arms

Jan Arborfield, REME: the Arborfield Remount Depot, until June 2014

Feb Salisbury: mobilisation and the war in Belgium and France to Dec 2014.

Apr Bovington: “Warhorse to Horsepower” Exhibition

May 24th Maidstone, QORWK Museum: Great War Activity programme until 7th Sep

Jul Chatham, Royal Engineers Museum: Outbreak of WW1 to Christmas Truce

Warwick, RRF Museum: The start/early years of WW1

26th Nottingham: Trent to Trenches exhibition, Nottingham Castle until 16th Nov

Aug 1st Winchester: A Call to Arms at RGJ (Rifles) Museum until 15 Sep.

2nd Winchester: Gurkhas on the Western Front. Gurkha Museum until 7 Sep.

2nd Leicester: outbreak of war and major battles in 2015. Runs until 22 Feb 15

2nd/3rd Chatham, RE Museum: Kitchener’s Army re-enactment event

4th Bodmin: The Old Contemptibles

4th Bovington: major event to mark outbreak of war

15th Lancaster: departure of 5th Bn KORR from Lancaster for S England

21st Leeds: KOYLI Museum commemoration of Battle of Le Cateau at Royal Armouries

23rd Lancaster: 1st Bn KORR deploy overseas

23rd Chatham, RE Museum: Film screening “Oh What a Lovely War”

26th Lancaster: Battle of Le Cateau

Winchester, Gurkha Museum: The Western Front 1914-15

Sep 4/5thLancaster: Recruits flock to join 5th Bn KORR

5th London: RRF, HM Tower: Mons/Mondemont (1st Battle of the Marne) throughout 2014
