Harper Posted 13 June , 2014 Share Posted 13 June , 2014 Tomorrow I am helping out at a World War 1 Discovery Day in Chester. It is sort of a "Bring - Share - Ask" type of event. I thought I'd take along this miniature group of medals as an example of what can be learnt from just a group of medals. I bought the group for £1 in a junk shop in Chandlers Ford in 1975. I thought that the medals deserved more respect than being thrown in the £1 bargain box. So I have no details about the recipient. However I have deduced that he was probably: 1. Royal Navy Reserve or Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve (Reserve Long Service and Good Conduct Medal) 2. Long serving rating or petty officer (Reserve Long Service and Good Conduct Medal) 3. Promoted to Warrant Officer or Lieutenant during WW1 (DSC) 4. Served in a theatre of war in 1914-15 (1914-15 Star) 5. Won the DSC for gallantry at sea (DSC) 6. Survived the war by many years (wear to medal ribbons & box) Have I missed anything? Thanks Harper PS No matter what I do I can't get this photo right way up. Apologies to all. horatio2 Posted 15 June , 2014 Share Posted 15 June , 2014 I think the point of the original question is that these are un-named miniature medals.
