Got this invite recently via email. Might be of interest to Ireland based members or anyone planning a summer holiday in the rain this year :w00t: -

Friends,

The Mayo Peace Park committee & Mayo County Council have agreed to host a special "Mayo Commemoration Day" at the Mayo Peace Park on Sunday the 3rd of August 2014. The event will start at 2.30pm.

This will mark the 100th anniversary of world war one in county Mayo. We have already hosted a number of events this year.

It will be an all embracing ceremony, however the main focus will be on the 100th anniversary of world war one and on those from Ireland and from County Mayo who served & died in it.

It will be a major ecumenical event, with a significant clerical involvement. All the local Mayo area Bishops and clergy are invited .

We will have music & song for a joyful ceremony, we have a choir as well as the town band and some serious singers . We will be inviting all the officials and councillors as well as the local MEP´s and T.D's. ( no they wont all be speaking ).
We are currently in the process of finding out, if "An Taoiseach" will be able to attend the event and perhaps some other serious politician to represent the government.

Mr Kevin Myers the well known Journalist & Columnist is the invited guest speaker on the day.
