sotonmate Posted 4 June , 2014 Share Posted 4 June , 2014 Pat From the Code on the MIC (5a) your man first landed in Mesopotamia on 25 May 1915 with the Devonshires. Not sure which Battalion though, even though it says 1/5 and they didn't seem to have gone there, but the 1/6 did ! As there were also two Battalions (2 and 1/4) of the Dorsets there too he may well have been posted to one of those later. The other hieroglyphics on the card represent the "India General Service Medal with "Afghanistan" and "North West Frontier Force 1919" clasps. ddycher Posted 12 June , 2014 Share Posted 12 June , 2014 Pat The 1/5th Devons did send drafts from India to the 2nd Dorsets in Mesopotamia. I have details on these drafts including this one. I am away from home with work at the moment but will post the details when I get back mid week. Regards Dave
