william wilson Posted 18 May , 2014 Share Posted 18 May , 2014 I don't know much about this image other than I suspect it is a private photograph taken by a German soldier. I don't believe it is a commercial image but I really don't know. My impression is it dates from the German Spring Offensive of 1918. Looks like it could have been a company or battalion size column of prisoners. There is some writing in German on the back. It's about 4.5 x 3.25 inches. A relative of mine was taken prisoner during the spring offensive and to think he may be among then. I would love to know where it was taken or even what the writing says, as I image you would.
