This guy almost certainly enlisted in late 1914, or very early 1915, and joined the 6th Bn South Lancashire Regiment. This battalion had been raised in Warrington, in August, 1914, and was initailly sent to Tidworth, where it became part of 38th Brigade, 13th Division. In January, 1915, the 6th South Lancs were moved to billets in Winchester, and in February of that year was moved to Blackdown. In June 1915 it sailed from Avonmouth, and was finally landed at ANZAC Cove, Gallipoli on 4th August, 1915. In January, 1916, they were sent to Egypt, and during the following month it was sent to Mesopotamia, where it remained for the rest of the war.

Good luck with your research

Hello Juditb,

He wasn't entitled to the 1914/1915 Star. So I don't think he enlisted in 1914/1915. Or maybe late in the 1915's ?.

Kind regards,

Ronald
