Remembered Today:

Prussian Officers Sword?

This sword is believed to be a Prussian Officers sword from the Great War.

I am not sure about this? Is it a French sword - Napoleon Eagle rather than an Imperial one?

Any ideas please?

Thanks

Not my subject at all, Kevin, but could a Prussian officer from a military family not be carrying a French sword acquired by one of his forebears during the Napoleonic Wars?

No ideas as to maker? IMHO, the eagle certainly looks more Napoleonic than Imperial Germany and being straight, perhaps a court sword?

I have checked again today, there is no markings on the blade or anywhere.

Thanks for the replies so far.

  • 2 weeks later...

It is a purely ceremonial and decorative French 'small' sword, comes in different versions, this one as khahki states is French 2nd Empire, so Napoleon III.

I believe they were being sold by W W Arms a few years back.
