There are quite a number of interesting Maps of the 'Other Theatres' available on McMaster now, that will be useful.

McMaster Maps Other Theatres

I think they can all be downloaded. They will open using " ER viewer " which comes with the N & MP OH DVD, or is available to download free. They may open with other software?

The download options include TIFF files which most viewing software should handle. OK if you have a good Broadband arrangement as each image is approx 1 gigabyte in size. Appropriate software should allow image to be saved as JPEG etc. once it is loaded.

I found JP2 files not so easy to use eg Photoshop not able to load the files. Even using some free JP2 converters did not work. Thanks for lead to the downloads as I cannot recall them being available in the past - have not visited the site for a number of months.

Kakadu is probably the best freely available JP2 viewer. To convert to other formats, ImageMagick or OpenJPEG are probably your best bets. The have the advantage of being something like a half to a tenth the size of the equivalent TIFF, depending on the compression settings used (there is a lossless compression mode which usually about halves the size, or if lossy compression is used, the difference is not usually noticeable to the human eye using compression ratios between 4 and 10-fold).
