Casualty medical records ?

If a wounded soldier made it back as far as a CCS were medical records kept? If the records were kept then where are they now and are they accessible on-line?

Records were kept by the CCS however most were later destroyed and only a few representative samples were kept.

There are some CCS Admission and Discharge Registers at Kew in the MH106 series, these are the representative samples referred to by Craig.

It's another thing working out which CCS a soldier was taken to !

Thanks people

I have one soldier in mind who almost certainly went to 21 CCS at La Neuville so maybe I'll browse the registers just in case.

The only surviving CCS Admissions Books are for Nos 3, 11, 34 and 39. You may have more luck in searching through the Admissions Books for Nos 2 and 18 General Hospitals. There are also a few surviving records for Field Ambulances, if you browse MH 106 on TNA Discovery it will tell you what there is.
