A Lovely War!

As it is the 100th year anniversary of The Great War, Myles Dungan is presenting A Lovely War in Theatre Royal, Waterford May 3rd, 8pm.

greatwarroadshow.ie

“The Great War is renowned for a number of things. Its poetry, the utter carnage it unleashed, the impact it had on the political landscape of Europe - and the music produced during the conflict. A Lovely War celebrates the unquenchable spirit, wry humour and irrepressible melodies of a lost generation, a hundred years after their elders and betters sent them in their millions to fight an immoral war.”

The words, there, of Dr. Myles Dungan, presenter of RTE Radio’s The History Show - and the man behind A Lovely War. “The show tells the story of the songs, how they came to be composed, who sang them, what the men in the trenches thought of them - and how they retaliated with music of their own.”

The songs will be performed by The Brook Singers, Sadhbh Fitzgerald and Jonathan Creasey.
