tm123 Posted 23 April , 2014 Share Posted 23 April , 2014 Hello, I am looking for information relating to the above medal that my Grandfather 241481 got for his service in 1/5th East Kent (the buffs) during WW1. I have recently found out that this medal was sold at auction in September 1999 in London. I know its a long shot, but maybe someone has come across it since!!? Thanks TM
elstevo Posted 7 May , 2014 Share Posted 7 May , 2014 Sold at DNW in 1999. D.C.M. London Gazette 29 August 1917: For marked gallantry and devotion to duty. He has on several occasions led a platoon most gallantly and has many times brought in wounded. The 1/5th Battalion left for India in October 1914, and became part of the 14th Indian Division, 35th Infantry Brigade. The battalion served in Mesopotamia and Persia.
