Timb Posted 17 April , 2014 Share Posted 17 April , 2014 A friend, my wife and I have been researching the Newbridge War Memorial and I have just put the results live on the web www.newbridgewarmemorial.co.uk The original memorial was moved to the National Museum of Wales in 1996 after vandalism and a new one erected in Newbridge near to the police station. The basic research is nearly complete now, I am adding details of the men at the rate of one per day. The pdfs at the bottom of each record are taking longer as they incorporate war diary, official histories and other information to 'flesh out' the men's stories. Any further info on any of the men would be gratefully received as would any comments and suggestions Tim
welshdoc Posted 17 April , 2014 Share Posted 17 April , 2014 The memorial is in the Welsh Folk museum / museum of Welsh Life Saint fagans. One I like to visit on a regular basis. I just wish it could have remained in Newbridge where it belongs. TIm. congratulations on your efforts. https://www.museumwales.ac.uk/stfagans/buildings/war_memorial/
Timb Posted 17 April , 2014 Author Share Posted 17 April , 2014 Welshdoc Thanks for the kind comments - I live near to the museum and it was there that I first saw the memorial rather than Newbridge. It is indeed a great pity that it had to be moved but if it hadn't I (and possibly you) would never have had the pleasure of seeing it regularly!
