Guest Bryce Posted 13 October , 2004 Share Posted 13 October , 2004 Hi everyone, Apparently Hew Strachan and some tv people in Britain have made a new series on World War I. 1. What do you all think of the series? 2. How can I get it? Bryce A. Suderow streetstories@juno.com
salientpoints Posted 14 October , 2004 Share Posted 14 October , 2004 I think you are referring to the series broadcast last year? http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B...8754423-5387604 Cheers Ryan
Mark Hone Posted 14 October , 2004 Share Posted 14 October , 2004 Yes-it was broadcast by Channel 4 last year. It is based on Strachan's monumental multi-volume history of the war (only first volume published so far). There is a companion, illustrated book of the series. I was surprised that unlike Schama, Ferguson, Roberts, Holmes et al, Hew Strachan didn't front the series himself. Maybe he didn't want to but I am sure he would have done a good job. He was one of my supervisors at University, many moons ago.
