Remembered Today:

Training camps

My grandfather told me that he had trained (Somerset Light Infantry) in Oswestry and
Prestatyn (1917 to 1918). Would the Prestatyn camp be Kimmel Camp...or were there other training camps near Prestatyn? He never made it to France because the armistice was signed, so he said, just as he was about to embark.

Seperate camps. Kimmel has a lot of history as you know. The camp for prestatyn, i will get back to you. It is ringing a bell in my head, can't think why. I lived for a while on the top of the high street.

Thanks, Scalyback....that's interesting. Yes, I know of the Kimmel camp story. I live not far away from there....I will be interested to hear more about the Prestatyn camp.
