Neil Mackenzie Posted 11 October , 2004 Share Posted 11 October , 2004 Does anyone know how often the CWGC update their cemetery plans? I visited Voormezeele Enclosure cemetery over the weekend looking for a particular grave for another forum member. The details for the individual (Aaron Bailey) indicated that he had a Special memorial but it was not where it was indicated on the plan. A quick search showed two rows of graves not indicated on the cemetery plan on the CWGC website containing 9 graves in all - including Aaron's. The attached shows where the extra 2 rows are. KONDOA Posted 11 October , 2004 Share Posted 11 October , 2004 Depends on the date of the plan. many of these are quite old ie from inception.
Terry Denham Posted 11 October , 2004 Share Posted 11 October , 2004 CWGC have not updated their plans from the originals produced in the 1920s and 1930s. Neither are they likely to do so as very few have changed (though a handful have!). Special Memorial headstones can be moved for various reasons as they are not actually placed over graves. Neil Mackenzie Posted 12 October , 2004 Author Share Posted 12 October , 2004 Thanks Terry and Rupert. Terry - from memory not all the 9 graves in these two rows were special memorials although some were. I knew I should have taken details of the others at the time!
