Mark Hone Posted 30 March , 2014 Share Posted 30 March , 2014 Much better than the silly article on the centenary which appeared in the Economist annual 'The World in 2014' publication at the turn of the year, I'm pleased to say.
David Ridgus Posted 30 March , 2014 Share Posted 30 March , 2014 Agreed Mark. This one, refreshingly, reviews the books published not the ones it wishes were published! At the Conference yesterday the German academic speaker was asked about the level of interest in the Centenary in Germany. He said that were the conference being held anywhere in Europe outside of France or the UK the audience would be between 5 and 10. He said that 2014 in Germany and Eastern Europe was the 75th anniversary of the start of the Second World War, the 70th anniversary of the July plot and, above all, the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
