I think I know this one as a 2Lt in the Scots Guards but, as a beginner, would like to hear if anyone has any othe ideas.

This photo is titled very informatively as "Dickie". I am fairly certain he is the 22 year old son of the "Uncle Anthony" RGA major of a separate topic.

Dickie fell at the Aisne Sep 14 1914. I think he had been in France with the BEF about 30-45 days. Fairly typical survival rate for a subaltern in WW1 I understand. This was before static trench warfare even set in.
