A 4.5 inch howitzer shell, but there are no stamps on the base. The flank is marked 'E' X 692 L.11, P.GOWWE NOV 11 1918. I don't expect anyone to sort out the markings which I think are added by a factory worker as a souvenir of the end of the war.
