ralphjd Posted 8 March , 2014 Share Posted 8 March , 2014 There is a Medal Index Card to a WILLIAM Ellwood 7/28524 Driver very difficult to decipher but Ancestry quote " 7 DV of S" ?? Army Service Corps. If this helps in any way. Ralph.
LarsA Posted 8 March , 2014 Share Posted 8 March , 2014 Kitchener's Fighting Scouts. I suggest looking for the "british medal forum", register there and our South African Members might be able to help. As he was SAMC his service records would be possible to get with the help of a south african researcher. Lars

woollamc Posted 8 March , 2014 Share Posted 8 March , 2014 886 Walter Ellwood had an entitlement to KSA Medal with both clasps from his service with 2nd Kitchener's Fighting Scouts but there is note in the medal roll saying that he previously served with Imperial Light Infantry under regimental number 129 and a separate record showing an entitlement to a QSA Medal with four clasps: Transvaal, Tugela Heights, Ladysmith and Laing's Nek. Ben3095 Posted 8 March , 2014 Author Share Posted 8 March , 2014 Hi Thank you for the info chaps! Is Kitcheners Fighting scouts common? Also is it normal for the South African medals to not have numbers on?
