Blackblue Posted 8 October , 2004 Share Posted 8 October , 2004 For the guys from Oz. Is is possible to research a WW1 A.I.F. Return From Active Service Badge via its number? Rgds Tim
Andrew P Posted 8 October , 2004 Share Posted 8 October , 2004 Hi Tim Do you know who issued them? The Army? RSL? My first thought would be to perhaps contact Veteran's Affairs to see if these numbers are recorded anywhere. I can't recall seeing any reference to these in the normal service records. Good Luck with it. Andrew
Blackblue Posted 8 October , 2004 Author Share Posted 8 October , 2004 Cheers Andrew. I'll try an e-mail to the AWM...surely someone has looked into this before. They were issued by the Minister of State for the Army as far as I know. They were individually numbered so perhaps there is a roll held somewhere. Ed Matthews Posted 10 October , 2004 Share Posted 10 October , 2004 Hello Tim The reference that I have for researching the RAS badges is MT1384/2 (Australian Archives, Melbourne) which contains a large number of registers, including those for the RAS badges. I've usually engaged the services of a local researcher to digout details for the examples in my collection. Hope this helps. Rgds Ed
