Ivor Posted 7 October , 2004 Share Posted 7 October , 2004 My mother has my great grandfather's Certificate of Disembodiment which I have managed to scan on to disk. The certificate states at the top: 'Certificate of* (Discharge, Transfer to Reserve, Disembodiment, Demobilization) on Demobilization Army Form Z 21 ........' All of the above are crossed out except for 'Disembodiment'. Anyone know what the differences/meanings of 'Discharge', 'Disembodiment' and 'Demobilization' are? (If I could I'd lad a copy on to here but I've had problems when I've tried it) Thanks again for your help and advice. Regards, Ivor
Muerrisch Posted 7 October , 2004 Share Posted 7 October , 2004 The TF units were "embodied' en masse at outbreak of war, and were similarly 'disembodied' at, or fairly soon, after the end. Embodiment is a unit activity, and derives from very early times, right up through the Militia to the TF. Your other words apply to individuals.
