Dear all,

Just a quick message to ask if you would be kind enough to have a quick look at our website any offer your thoughts on the Project. Herts at War is a lottery funded four year project designed to commemorate the experiences of the servicemen and residents of the Hertfordshire, both at home and abroad in the Great War. With an online project, outreach programme and brand new museum exhibition opening in August 2014 we hope to document and preserve as much county history as possible during the centenary.

As a community led project created by individuals with a shared interest in the subject and passion for remembrance, we hoped that it might prove of intereste to the GWF Pals. Personally, I have been a keen user of the GWF for years as have many members of the project team and we know just how much knowledge and valuable advice you can and have already offered. We would be very pleased if you had even a quick look and shared with us any observations or ideas that you have about the site and project as a whole (good or bad!).

Thanks for all your support!

Hello Karen - what was his name and number? I have a large database of men who served in the 19th so may be able to tell you more.

Hi Karen - I will look him up this evening. From his 4 digit service number he enlisted fairly soon after the outbreak of war - probably the very end of August 1914 - and would have gone into 2/19th Londons initially, and then transferred into the 1/19th a few weeks later.

Stop please. if members want to raise queries about soldiers, then please start a topic in the "Soldiers" section of the website. It is basically not just bad forum manners to hijack another topic, but also counter productive, as such a topic might usefully be headed with a soldier's name and regiment, or with the unit set as a tag.

If you need to contact a particular member with a query, there is a Personal Message system.

members will get better results, and more help by thinking about it before hijacking threads.

can future comments here be on the original subject ONLY please.

The post is asking for people to critique a website

You are asking for specific details about a soldier.

You should get a better response by posting his name and regiment in the Soldiers forum.
