RNCVR Posted 3 October , 2004 Share Posted 3 October , 2004 I picked up this set of three chevrons at a show yesterday. It is of the same style as British & Commonwealth Army chevrons, on a khaki summer weight background - I think perhaps WWII vintage - however the chevrons themselves are of the style worn by the WWII German forces. I have never seen a British chevron like this before - but are they British?? Scan is attached, Thanks, Bryan
Greg Posted 4 October , 2004 Share Posted 4 October , 2004 These may well be South African chevrons. In the 1970s they redesigned the uniforms to get rid of a lot of British influence and adopted'German'style chevrons and the airforce adopted Luftwaffe style collar badges for senior ranks Greg
RNCVR Posted 4 October , 2004 Author Share Posted 4 October , 2004 Thanks Greg, thats interesting. I have seen some SA Naval rate badges with their national emblem above the rate devices in place of the Kings or Queens crown. Bryan
