Guest Brummy Posted 2 October , 2004 Share Posted 2 October , 2004 I thought that the combination of war time memories and his visit to the battle fields, decades later made an exellent combination. Brum
Fred van Woerkom Posted 2 October , 2004 Share Posted 2 October , 2004 I agree: a great writer with a great style. One of the best written books to come out of the war. Fred

redbarchetta Posted 4 October , 2004 Share Posted 4 October , 2004 Yep, this book is excellent, plus it has several contemporary references to trench art, which just made it for me !!! Jim
Captain Dave Posted 11 October , 2004 Share Posted 11 October , 2004 I remember reading this book 12 years ago. I recall absolutley wincing at his description of having to go back and look for his pistol in the dark and the mud other wise he would have to pay for the loss. Very good book, especialy in terms of an infantrymans experience coming in in the last two years of the war.
