Remembered Today:

McMaster now supports trench name and place searches

Noticed this morning that McMaster now supports searches for trenches or places. Only problem is that I cannot get a result for either a place name or a trench name. I tried it in both Google Chrome and Internet Explorer.

It would be a very useful facility - anyone had any success?

McMasters - a fantastic site, if only it worked on a regular basis...

None whatsoever! (Mind you, I've had that many problems with the McMasters site that I've all but given up on it anyway)

Just tried McMasters and the search facility seems to be working good. For example I put in "Festubert" in place names and it immediately showed the map reference for Festubert. Got a list of about five trenches when I entered "Oxford Street". If it keeps working this is a great facility.

Well done mike, it must have been your magical touch in contacting McMs or something like that !!

Mick

Yes, I think it was, and an excellent response from them.

Mike, thanks for contacting them and getting it fixed. It is probably what I should have done in the first place. I guess on the positive side over 100 people have viewed this topic and now know of the new facility and thanks to Mike and McMaster, it works! A good outcome ...

I wonder if they've taken the information for their search engine from John reeds excellent "Gazetteer of the Western Front"
