Sepoy Posted 13 January , 2014 Posted 13 January , 2014 Just a short post to share a recent acquisition. This silver gilt and enamel medallion was presented to 9/5437 Corporal Lewis Marshall, 2/9th Battalion, Durham Light Infantry who served in Salonika from 1916 to 1919. His Service Papers show that he survived the war although suffered from smallpox and malaria. He later joined the Inland Revenue and, after a long career, awarded a MBE (Civil Division) in 1955. This is the first WW1 "Odd Fellows" Medallion that I have come across and would be interested to know whether these Medallions were issued to all serving members of this Friendly Society. Sepoy
