Archeaux Wood

Does anybody have a map with the location of Archeaux Wood please. The war diary for the 1st King's Own Scottish Borderers mentions that they marched there from Louvencourt in June 1916 so it must be nearby. A seach on the forum brings up nothing for Archeaux Wood. Any help appreciated.

It'll be Acheux Wood... next to the village of Acheux (now Acheux-en-Amienois) - about 2 miles down the road (SE direction) from Louvencourt.

Just to expand a little on Dave's map this is a download from Google Earth of Acheux Wood and it's relation to the Somme front in June 1916. I think it is about 5 miles as the crow flies more or less due east to the front line at Beaumont-Hamel.

Pete.

Dave and Pete thank you very much, the map is just what I needed. Acheux Wood is the place that one of the men I'm looking for was wounded on 24th June 1916 whilst detonating bombs. The arial photo makes you realise how rural the area still is, no wonder nothing was open when I went to the Somme in September!
