M J Hodges Posted 9 December , 2013 Share Posted 9 December , 2013 Hi I'm looking to identify this shell please. It belong to my late grandfather, I was told that it was given to him by his brother who lived in Belgium a few years ago.. On the base of the shell there is a small 6 or 9, and what looks to be a very worn dial around the centre hole. I have looked on the internet to see if I could identify it with not much luck . I would like to know what the round caps are and the bent over bar is please. I'm not sure if the number can be seen in the photo's. Doc2 Posted 10 December , 2013 Share Posted 10 December , 2013 It looks to me to be part of a fuze for an artillery shell.
calibre792x57.y Posted 10 December , 2013 Share Posted 10 December , 2013 Looks like the bottom end of a German fuze, possibly a HZ14 for a howitzer; but there isn't much left to go on. - SW
