Chutist33 Posted 3 December , 2013 Share Posted 3 December , 2013 Hello All, I am a GWF member and also a caseworker for SSAFA - the present day successor to the S & SFA of the Great War. As most members will be aware, S & SFA was formed in 1885 prior to the Boer war and was immediately available as the only nationwide society providing care and support for 'the wives and children of those ordered on active service'. Whilst there are a wealth of facts, figures and statistics relating to the tremendous work carried out during the Great War, there are few records or stories of those individuals or families actually helped or of those involved in the organisation. In particular, very few of the Branch records appear to have survived. Knowing the wide breadth of expertise within the GWF can I seek the help of members in sharing any information regarding S & SFA with us, so that their contribution in support of our Forces and their families can be remembered and recorded during the centenary please. thank you, Jim K
